2022 at Mickeys – A yearly roundup

2022 – What a year! As winter is now upon us, we thought we’d take a look back through the year and highlight some standout moments that we are immensely proud of.

Celebrating our 1st Birthday

May 17th marked our 1st birthday and having made it through the unprecedented pandemic, this was a monumental occasion for us. In true Mickeys fashion, we celebrated in style and invited a number of our colleagues, investors and guests to a brilliant birthday bash with live music from our in-house DJ, cocktails, gelato and canapes. We’re thrilled to have such a firm base of supporters that have seen us through one of the most challenging times that has faced the hospitality industry, and we’re incredibly grateful to everyone who has supported us since our inception.

Ethan King placing 2nd in National Seafood Chef of the Year competition

We love to celebrate our team as well as our business, so when one of our youngest team members became a finalist in the National Seafood Chef of the Year competition, alongside his cooking partner Hector Kilvington from Lympstone Manor, we couldn’t have been more proud. They placed 2nd out of all UK entrants, a huge achievement for such young chefs who are early on in their careers.

Exmouth Business Chamber Awards

It was an absolute pleasure to be nominated for the Best Medium/Large Business Award and the Environmental Impact Award at the Exmouth Business Chamber Awards this year. Having only been in Exmouth for a year, these nominations really made us feel like we had cemented ourselves in the community and it was flattering to be recognised for our efforts towards tackling climate change. Although we didn’t win, we’re eager to keep growing our local connections and continue working towards a more sustainable future.

1st Halloween Party

The trepidation surrounding COVID was still very strong during our first Halloween season, so we decided to divert the celebrations and pick it up this year instead. We threw a fang-tastic party that served up nothing but treats – ghoulishly good cocktails, a spooky menu and a best-dressed competition. Needless to say, it was a total hit!

We’d like to say a huge thank you to everyone who has supported us throughout the year. Despite the hospitality industry facing even more challenges than it did before, we’re extremely grateful to everyone who continues to dine with us.
