Keeping the kids entertained this summer

5 ways to keep the kids entertained this August.

With summer in full swing and the kids off school, it can be hard to find ways to keep your little ones active and to stop boredom from kicking in. To help make things a little easier, we’ve put together a little guide on our top 5 ideas for keeping the kids entertained during the summer holidays. Take a look at our suggestions below…

Have a BBQ

A BBQ in the back garden is a great way to relax, unwind and enjoy great food with the family. Why not let the kids have their own fun by encouraging them to get creative, and make a toppings table filled with savoury options for the main event, and sweet for dessert (like the toppings station at our sister site, Café Patisserie Glacerie!) If you’re looking for a new recipe to try, give Michael’s Texan Short Ribs a go.

Camp out

Get your little explorers away from technology and into the outdoors with a camping trip! They’ll have a great time learning survival skills and will develop a sense of adventure by sleeping under the stars. You don’t have to travel far to go camping either… for first timers, the back garden is a good way to test the waters and see how your little ones get on.

Enjoy a family bike ride

You can’t beat a pedal along Exmouth’s stunning seafront on a sunny day! Bike riding is an easy way for the kids to get their recommended hour of daily exercise, plus it’s a really good way to explore somewhere new and enjoy the outdoors. So if you’re struggling to keep the kids entertained this August, get them out on their bikes! Click here to learn more about the benefits of cycling for both adults and children.

Take a trip to Mickey’s!

We know we’re biased, but bringing the kids down to our Exmouth restaurant, Mickey’s Beach, is a guaranteed way to bring a smile to your little ones faces! Our specially crafted children’s menu has plenty of options for the kids to enjoy, plus we’ve got options for larger and smaller appetites, with 2 courses for £9.95 and 3 courses for £12. Take a look at the full menu here.

Get outside and hit the beach

After you’re full from lunch at Mickey’s, there’s no better way to soak up the sunshine than with some family fun in the sun. Why not encourage the kids to get active and try some beach games? Whether it’s tug of war, building sand castles or kite flying by the water, your little ones will be able to exercise, have fun and enjoy the sun!
